The Arenal Volcano National Park is one of the most-visited parks in all of Central America. The trails in the Arenal National Park are easy-going and not very strenuous -- great for a leisurely and informative guided Arenal Volcano hike with one of our eagle-eyed naturalist guides.

The Arenal Volcano National Park hike is also one of our most-popular Costa Rica tours in La Fortuna Costa Rica and a must-see for nature lovers and especially for bird watching in Costa Rica.

We start the Arenal Volcano National Park hike by picking you up at your La Fortuna hotel and driving to the entrance of the Arenal National Park. You may take a few moments to use the facilities and read up on the history of the Arenal Volcano area. You'll then head out on well-groomed, easy trails that skirt the tropical rainforest at the base of the Arenal Volcano.

Much of this area was once devastated by the fury of the Arenal Volcano explosion of 1968 and has since regrown into a lush forest with great biodiversity.

During the Arenal Volcano National Park hike, it is possible to see a wide variety of Costa Rica flora and fauna characteristic of the Arenal Volcano area while you walk through the lava fields that were formed after the Arenal Volcano explosion of 1992.

While in the Arenal Volcano National Park, on clear days you will have a magnificent view of the impressive Arenal Volcano, the pristine Lake Arenal and the extinct volcano Cerro Chato off in the distance.

Your naturalist guide will provide important and interesting information about the main characteristics of the Arenal Volcano and many more important details of the natural history of the Arenal Volcano.
