Rios Tropicales Lodge

If you close your eyes and imagine what a genuine “Eco-Lodge” deep in the rainforest could be like, you might think of beautiful tropical gardens framing native wood Lodge rooms, open air gathering pavilions with thatched roofs and comfortable hammocks swinging in a gentle breeze, ample viewing decks for watching the toucans fly overhead and the river dance along its rapids.

Good imagination! This is exactly what you will experience at our Rios Tropicales Lodge. It is the first “Eco-Lodge” built on the Pacuare and the only one powered with hydro-generated electricity for a clean sustainable energy source.

Rios Tropicales Lodge is located on our 2000 acre private reserve at the mouth of the Pacuare Gorge, inside the Pacuare Protected Zone. Our private reserve borders the indigenous Cabecar Indian Reserve and contains more than 40 miles of hiking trails and numerous waterfalls, streams, and pools. There are two ways to access our Lodge, via rafting in on the Pacuare River, or hiking in along a trail. The various accommodations are set on the mountainside at varying slope heights, affording fantastic views of the river and the dense rainforest surroundings

What does “ecolodge” really mean? At the Rios Tropicales Lodge, it means being surrounded by the beauty and splendor of primary rainforest without having to sacrifice luxury or comfort. Equally important, we didn’t sacrifice our gorgeous environment to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Sustainably built using reclaimed wood and hydroelectric powered, our ecolodge is a model of ecotourism (we even have numerous awards to prove it).

At our ecolodge, you can relax, explore and enjoy all that Costa Rica offers on our 2,000-acre private reserve at the mouth of the Pacuare Gorge. We have more than 40 miles of hiking trails and numerous waterfalls, streams and pools. Our open-air dining pavilion and lounge let you watch the local wildlife and listen to the sounds only found in a tropical paradise.

The hotel is located on the Northern Area of Costa Rica, right in front of the Arenal Volcano and just 2 and a half hours away from San Jose. The beauty of the scenario in this area mixes perfectly with the exuberance of our Gardens and the singularity of our 118 rooms.

The contrasts we offer you go from the canopy tour adrenaline to the serenity and rest of our thermo-mineral water, walking tours to observe really close and safely the volcano; the sensations of our spa, the natural paths and the Costa Rican gastronomy flavors along with the international cuisine. These and many others make us your best choice for the Arenal touristic destination.
